I was planning to talk about siding today – or to share the final bathroom update, but honestly? Mike & I are in the ‘messy almost finished phase’ of the bathroom reno. There are many final details such as not-so-great drywall that needs more mudding and sanding, details of custom built-ins, and bathroom “jewelry”. Instead of a big project update, I’m sharing 3 little details that are actually finished:
- Brushed Gold Toilet Handle – Who knew that you could swap out the standard toilet handle for one with a different finish? I didn’t until recently. Our tall-height toilet (which is the exact model we have in our first house and we love for many reasons) had a chrome handle. All of the fixtures in this bathroom are brushed gold or Delta champagne bronze, so this chrome handle stood out in a not-so-good way. For about $20 and 5 minutes of my time, I was able to swap the chrome for a cohesive brushed gold. I love the bougie detail!
- Skirted toilet – After raising four boys, I cannot overstate the ease that a skirted toilet brings to one’s life. (If you don’t know what a “skirted” toilet is, it’s just a smooth-sided toilet rather than one with nooks and crannies like traditional toilets have) These are so much easier to keep clean.
- Motion-sensor waste bin – It is essential to have a waste bin in the bathroom. This bathroom features white and brushed gold. So when I found this perfectly-sized white bin with gold trim AND realized that all one had to do was wave their hand over it for it to open, I knew it was a great addition to our cabin getaway.
